Hapag-Lloyd to increase Asia-Europe rates US$1,000 per TEU

Hapag-Lloyd (Germany) has the intention to increase the rates or westbound Asia-Europe trade by US$1,000 per TEU. The new rates are waited in July 1.

In the most active time between August 1 and September 30 there will be a surcharge of $500 per TEU for sailings from Asia to north Europe - according to carrier's announcement.

There will be increase at the peak of the season (from June 10 to August 31) and for Asia-Mediterranean routes - $650 per TEU.

DANAGAS (Middle East Natural Gas), Reports Strong Growth

Dana Gas PJSC, the largest natural gas (in the MIddle East) in the private sector informed for its financial results.


• Net profit of AED 241 million, up 17% year-on-year
• Production of 61,400 boepd, up by 3% compared to Q4, 2012
• 100% interest in offshore Block 6 Concession area in Egypt
• Pre-qualified in Lebanon’s first offshore licensing round
• Refinancing of the $1bn Sukuk completed

For the first quarter of 2013 gross profit declined as a result of the conservative cash policy and the suspension of Liquefied Petroleum Gas in Kurdistan - region of Iraq. Revenues and and gross profits will increase because of Egypt and because the production in Kurdistan will resume in June this year.

Dr. Adel Al-Sabeeh, Chairman of Dana Gas said a few words about the reports:
"Our disciplined approach and long-term business strategy has allowed Dana Gas to achieve an encouraging first quarter while completing the refinancing of the sukuk and posting an increase in net profit. We are committed to expanding regionally and were successful in our bid to be awarded an oil and gas prospecting project in northern offshore Egypt as well as pre-qualifying in Lebanon’s first offshore licensing round."

Rashid Al-Jarwan, Executive Director and Acting Chief Executive Officer of Dana Gas, said:
"We have had an active start to the year. Egypt and Kurdistan have increased their quarterly production as we brought on stream discoveries, added compression facilities to enhance current production. These developments, combined with the completion of the sukuk refinancing have meant we can approach the rest of 2013 with renewed confidence and ensure our future growth plans deliver value to our stakeholders."

Boating in US Safer and Safer Informs Coast Guard

Statistics reports presented by U.S. Coast Guard for 2012 showed drop in accidents and injuries. From 2011 to 2012 death cases in boating accidents dropped from 758 to 651, injuries dropped from 3.081 to 3,000.
The good thing is that death cases dropped with 13% compared to the previous year. Property damage costs $38mililon.

It is written in the report: "We're very pleased that casualties are lower, and thank our partners for their hard work over the past year," said Capt. Paul Thomas, director of Inspections and Compliance at U.S. Coast Guard Headquarters. "We will continue to stress the importance of life jacket wear, boating education courses and sober boating."

Alcohol was the main reason for fatal boating accidents. Other factors are: operator inattention, operator inexperience, improper lookout, machinery failure and excessive speed ranked as the top five primary contributing factors in accidents.

The majority, 71% of the victims, drowned. The shocking 84% was not reported as wearing a life jacket. 14% of death cases happened on ships where operator had received boating safe instructions. Most types of vessels involved in accidents were: open motorboats, personal watercraft and cabin motorboats.

Iran Finish Aframax Tankship New-building

Islamic Republic of Iran finished the country's project for building the 1st oil tanker (Aframax)built in Iran. The vessel will be delivered for Venezuela.

Dimensions: 113, 000 dwt, The vessel is designed and built by Iran Marine Industrial Company, 250 meters long, 44 meters wide, 21 meters high with speed 16 knots.

Aframax - able to serve most of the ports in the world, can access not very large ports, main use in the basins of the Black Sea, the North Sea, the Caribbean Sea, the South and East China Seas, and the Mediterranean.

The oil tanker project needed 52million euros. The maritime shipbuilding industry in Iran is developing fast despite the western embargos.

Cosco Singapore $23M deal

COSCO Corp (Singapore) informed for a deal for $23m. The company ordered a floatover launch barge. The subsidiary COSCO (Zhousan) Shipyard signed a deal with shipowner from Malaysia. The barge's height is 10m and the width is 40m and 160m long. It is needed for floatover operations of structures weighing up to 14,500t.

Profits of COSCO for the first 4 months this year dropped 65% to $7.9m bud the deal is not expected to have impact on the company.
