Japan with loans proposal to Iraq

Japan supports Iraq and decided to offer loans for building bridges and roads destroyed by military actions, money will be also used for rebuilding an oil port and for construction of a gas liquefaction refinery. Iraq informed 2 days ago that its military forces would take from coalition forces in the southern province of Al-Muthanna, the 1st such move in the war-torn country, which paves the way for the departure of Japanese troops.

Japan has promised to Iraq loans for the region which capital is Samawa. This action is considered help for the new government.

Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi announced in a news conference:
"Japan has provided encouraging support and even if the Self-Defense Forces withdraw from Samawa, we want to continue that support,"
"As a responsible member of the international community, Japan will continue considering and carrying out what it can do for the stability of Iraq,".

Port of Los Angeles and Hamburg Port Authority new partnership agreement

 The Port of Los Angeles  and Hamburg Port Authority made a deal for cooperation and partnership. The two sides have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for better relations between the 2 ports.

The Port of Los Angeles and Hamburg Port Authority will cooperate in the field of port infrastructure, environmental and security challenges, and plans good trade opportunities. The agreement is for period of 5 years and was signed at the International Exhibition for Logistics, Mobility, IT and Supply Chain Management conference in Munich, Germany.

Port of Los Angeles executive director Geraldine Knatz announced:
"This agreement formalises and expands our partnership and I expect it to be beneficial to both ports in the years ahead"


"I am delighted to have the Port of Los Angeles as a partner with whom we can share experiences and discuss, on equal footing, subjects of interest and concern," informed HPA managing director, Jens Meier.

"It is always a good thing to look over the rim of your tea cup and benefit from a mutual exchange of views."

6 new 16,000-TEUers for CMA CGM

The French shipping company CMA CGM is planning to add 6 new 16,000-TEU mega ships in addition to the 3 it already has in its fleet.

The South Korean ship builder Samsung has reached an agreement with CMA CGM on an order for 3 new 16,000-TEU container ship to be delivered in the mid 2015, and that order is understood to be based on a past order placed jointly with German owner Claus-Peter Offen.

The order with Claus-peter Offen. did not activated before but it has now been updated, and the new 3 container ships concerned have been upsized. Furthermore, Rodolphe Saade who is CEO of CMA CGM told that the group is looking for 3 more 16,000 TEU vessels to take the number of such ships it is going to have in service 9 in total.

Seajacks plans to own the biggest turbine installation vessel

 Seajacks International made a deal with Samsung Heavy Industries to create world's biggest and most innovative offshore wind farm installation vessel which will be named Seajacks Scyla. The new machine is designed according to demands for UK Round 3, Scottish territorial waters and the North West European markets.

The vessel will be with 1,500 tonne leg-encircling crane, incorporate useable deck space in excess of 5000m2, and have over 8000t of available variable load. The speed of sailing is planned to be 12 knots and the vessel will be able to install components in the water at depth og up to 65m.

Seajacks is a offshore contractor that provide services to the offshore wind and oil and gas industries.

Blair Ainslie, CEO of the Seajacks Group, explained: "Seajacks Scylla is a significant milestone for Seajacks and for the offshore wind industry. She is a Round 3 vessel and is more technically advanced than any other installation vessel that we see on the market today.

"Drawing on our extensive experience, and based on feedback from discussions with clients across the supply chain, the design of Seajacks Scylla has been developed to meet the installation needs of jumbo-monopiles, jackets and turbines of future wind farms in deeper waters and further from shore.

"We are delighted to be working with a top tier shipbuilder in Samsung Heavy Industries. Samsung are recognized as a premier offshore shipyard who have a reputation of delivering a first class product. We are therefore confident that Scylla will be of the highest quality and certain that she will be delivered on time for the commencement of UK Round 3.

Harris Lee, Vice President of the Samsung Heavy Industries, said: "We are also pleased to be working with Seajacks, a leading offshore installation contractor. Since Scylla will be the most technically advanced unit in the sector, we will put our utmost effort into both the design and construction phases to ensure the best quality and performance of vessel. We are viewing the Wind Power market very positively and are therefore optimistic about the optional vessels."
