Lloyd’s Register is about to class series of four 20,150 TEU container vessels that were ordered by the Japanese shipping giant Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (MOL) at Korea’s Samsung Heavy Industries.

Lloyd’s register will class MOL’s new 20,000-TEU ships

The company placed an order for a total of six ultra large boxships on Monday, March 2nd. The other two vessels are to be constructed at the Imabari shipyard in Japan.

The six vessels are scheduled for launching and delivery in 2017, and are going to serve the purposes of the Asia-Europe service.

“These container ships are the largest ever to be contracted. Their innovative design is going to incorporate all the latest technology regarding operational as well as environmental performance.
