According to the released info, the bulker maneuvered immediately and managed to return to the area where it remained waiting for further assistance.

The vessel was constructed back in 2012 in China’s Cosco Zhoushan Shipyard. It was transporting 56,550 MT sand in bulk and didn’t have any deficiencies, damages or defects prior to the time of the incident. According to Super Eco Bulkers the collision did not lead to any damages on board the M/V Venus.

The vessel was traveling from Cambodia to Singapore at the time of the collision.

“The fishing boat was safely towed into Malaysia’s Coast. Other fishing vessels, near the area of the accident, were able to rescue two fishermen that were aboard the boat. The rescuing vessels did not determine any casualties or missing persons from the fishing boat,” according to the statement.

The Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) has reported that the crew consisted of 30 seamen, according to the registration of the fishing vessel.

Malaysia’s Coast Guard issued instructions for the M/V Venus to proceed to Pulau Kapas for investigative purposes. When the investigation was finished, the ship sailed off to its Singapore destination.
