Liquefied petroleum gas shipping company Dorian LPG has taken delivery of ECO very large gas carrier (VLGC) Copernicus from Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering.

With the capacity of 84,000 cbm, the Copernicus is Dorian LPG’s seventeenth newbuilding delivery. According to the company, the vessel will trade in the Helios LPG Pool.

So far in November, the company took delivery of two new vessels besides Copernicus, namely VLGC Commander and VLGC Chaparral, its 15th and 16th ECO VLGCs.

Including the newly-delivered gas carrier, Dorian LPG now owns and operates 20 VLGCs and one pressurized LPG vessel.

In addition, Dorian LPG has two more 84,000 cbm ECO VLGC newbuildings under construction at Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries. These vessels are expected to join Dorian’s fleet in 2016.
