Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha (K Line) announced earlier today that the construction of CAPE HAYATOMO, a 250,000-dwt class ore carrier has been completed by Namura Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. Imari Shipyard & Works and delivered to the Company.

Cape Hayatomo is a very large ore carrier (VLOC), the first ship of the second generation of WOZMAX vessels built at Namura Shipbuilding Co. Ltd. WOZMAX means an optimum size of a vessel which can call main West Australian iron ore loading ports and stands for “West” “OZ” “MAX”.

The very large ore carrier, which features a length of 330 meters and a width of 57 meters, was designed for loading iron ores at mainly West Australia, Brazil and South Africa to Japanese steel mills.
