1 223 901 passengers travelled onboard Tallink Grupp vessels in July this year, which is 1.3% more than in the same period last year. This is also the highest number of passengers Tallink has ever transported in one month. In addition to the increase in the number of passengers in July, the number of cargo units transported by the group and the number of passenger vehicles transported also increased.

“The fact that we have reached another milestone with our monthly passenger figures is clear evidence that the passengers travelling on the Baltic Sea have given top marks for the service quality onboard once again to Tallink Grupp vessels in our highly competitive market,“ Paavo Nõgene, CEO of Tallink Grupp, said. “This is the sixth year running when we have achieved record passenger figures with the help of our customers.“

According to Paavo Nõgene the good results can be attributed to the company’s continuous product and services development work, investments made into the company’s vessels, but also the untypically warm summer weather as well as Tallink Grupp’s efforts in new markets, particularly in the Asian countries. „We continue to see an increase in the number of Asian passengers and this also had an impact on the July record result,“  he added.

The largest proportion of passengers were on the Estonia-Finland route (633 260 passengers and a 1.0% increase on the same period in 2017); followed by the Finland-Sweden route (375 199 passengers and a 2.2% increase on the same period last year), the Estonia-Sweden route (118 501 passengers and a 1.5% increase on the same period last year) and the Latvia-Sweden route (96 941 passengers and a small decrease of -0.1% compared to the same period last year).

According to the CEO of Tallink Grupp, it is positive that cargo transportation is also significantly and continuously increasing as are the transported passenger vehicle numbers. 29 629 units of cargo were transported in July, which is 7,1% more than in the same period last year, and 153 805 passenger vehicles were transported, which is 1,0% more than in the same period last year.
