The events that took place 14 years ago on September 11th, 2001 changed the United States forever. Over 3,000 American lost their lives in New York City, Washington, D.C. and Shanksville, Pennsylvania.
Many people, although, - from your ordinary citizen to a train first responder – showed the brave spirit and heroic nature of the country on that particular day and in the attacks’ aftermath. Dedicated public servants coming from the ranks of local, state and federal government put their all into confronting the unprecedented challenges in order to make America a safer place in the future.
The United States Coast Guard has released a short film paying tribute to those who were first to arrive on the scene and led the biggest maritime evacuation ever.
“Now, fourteen years after the 9/11 attacks, we still remember the 3,000 people that lost their lives all too soon. Our memory also has a special place for the thousands who came and faced maybe the greatest challenge in their lives and the ones that have put their efforts into defending our Nation since then,” commented Admiral Paul Zukunft, U.S. Coast Guard commandant.
“We will never forget the ones who lost their lives on this sad day and those who continue to focus on protecting America and our freedom.”
