The successful test run of the Very Large Crude Carrier (VLCC) Anne at Occidental Petroleum’s Ingleside location has spurred further development of a VLCC dock at the facility.  By year end, 2018, Oxy aims to complete installation of multiple loading arms to allow for loading of VLCC vessels on a regular basis at Port Corpus Christi.

Read more from Platts: Oxy to complete Corpus Christi VLCC loading facility by end 2018.  Occidental Petroleum Vice President for Midstream, Terry Morrison; Port Corpus Christi Commission Chairman, Charles Zahn, Executive Director, John LaRue, and Deputy Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer Sean Strawbridge all provide perspective on the imminent growth for Oxy and Port Corpus Christi.

In addition to accommodating VLCC loading and making way for increased capacity at Oxy Ingleside; Platts highlights the expansion of the Corpus Christi Ship Channel, construction of the new Corpus Christi Harbor Bridge, connections to the Eagle Ford Shale and Permian Basin, and Corpus Christi’s rise as a global energy hub.

Recent research by the PIRA Energy Group, a division of S&P Global Platts places Corpus Christi as an increasingly prominent area for U.S. exports.  Proximity to the Eagle Ford Shale, and projected pipeline connections to the Permian support this research.
