ASTO Telematics GmbH, Munich, through its 100% subsidiary ASTO Telematics Asia Pacific Ltd., CMIC Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd. and ShenZhen HongYi Hi-Tech Technology Co., Ltd. today announced the establishment of the joint venture ShenZhen ZhongHong Equipment Technology Co., Ltd. in ShenZhen. It is a joint venture that will provide smart container components in the mass market.

Together with the world’s largest container manufacturer CIMC, the three companies involved have recognized that existing solutions do not meet the requirements for a smart container and consequently a smart container chain management (smart-cm). As a result, the three companies involved have decided to pool their forces to simplify the introduction of a world-wide and affordable, smart container. Each of the companies involved brings unique expertise into the ZhongHong joint venture.

Asto Telematics will develop the basis of the tried and tested “aJour Compact” product within the joint venture company ZhongHong to the requirements of a dry container with regard to logistics processes as well as container and transport insurance. In principle, the adapted “aJour Compact” version increases operational efficiency and effectiveness. The ASTO Telematics technology (hardware and software) is redesigned with regard to the dimensions and additional functionalities so that the containers as a smart container do not have to be re-certified. Through this innovation, the joint goal of equipping the production volume of CIMC with aJour devices can be realized. The ZhongHong joint venture enables high-volume markets to be equipped with smart devices.

The ZhongHong joint venture is pursuing the goals of the GSCA (Global Smart Container Alliance) and implementing them at the same time. The data from the energy-efficient telematics are further processed and provided in the CIMC portal and in other customer portals. The guaranteed battery life of this telematics device on aJour Compact is five (5) years and corresponds to the product life cycle of a dry container.

In order to ensure the integrity of the container and the load, in addition to the telematics and the like, also geofence locks for dry and reefer containers, as well as various technical additional components of the containers at ZhongHong in Shenzhen were produced.
