It would be the first inland waterway based solution and would mean something completely new for the transport and logistics market.

The business model is based upon frequency, precision and cargo capacity, two sailings per week in each direction are planned.

“We see that the future belongs to those willing to take responsibility and understand the value of an active environmentally friendly solution to today’s problems” said Ragnar Johansson, Managing Director of Swedish Orient Line.  “We believe that we can be at the forefront and offer a system for a new sea based solution that is able to challenge the present market”

Initially, it is planned that the service would ship from eastern Värmland (Möckeln area), western Örebro region and south Dalarna. Customers in the timber, wood, paper and mining industries are there with requirements for export of goods and local and national retailers have the need of capacity for the import of their goods.

The idea for the new service originally came from Kristofer Andrén and Lars Rexius, both of them with long, well-established experience within shipping and logistics solutions. During 2017 they have been studying the market and see that the need for both local and regional solutions are required.

As an Operator and Owner SOL offer a stable organisation within their present set-up which includes, Ro-Ro liner services, transport of Breakbulk and Project cargoes, Agency department and also have a Commercial and Technical Management portfolio.

The company has over the last 100 years been able to adjust and improve the services to their customers, this is based upon quality, flexibility short decision paths and entrepreneurial skills.
