Royal IHC has signed up TMC Compressors of the seas (TMC) to deliver a complete marine compressed air system to the integrated reel lay vessel the Dutch shipbuilder is constructing for Subsea7.

TMC to equip Subsea 7 vessel

TMC’s scope of work includes the provision of a complete marine compressed air system, including 2 x 84kW water cooled compressors, 3 x air cooled air dryers for control and working air. The equipment will be shipped from TMC’s headquarter in Oslo to Royal IHC in the Netherlands.

TMC’s contract value is undisclosed.

“The new build market for offshore vessels has been through a rough patch in recent years, so it feels great to deliver compressors to this industry segment again, especially when it is for such an advanced vessel,” says Hans Petter Tanum, Director sales and business development.

Once finished, the high specification vessel will be capable of installing complex rigid flowlines including pipe-in-pipe systems from shallow waters to depths up to 3,000 metres. Delivery of the vessel is planned for early 2020.

“Lower overall cost but improved reliability is very much the expectation amongst oil services and energy companies today. I believe that is what led Royal IHC to go for compressors that are specially designed and built for marine applications. We look forward to supporting them at this project,” says Hans Petter Tanum.

TMC is the world’s leading supplier of compressed air systems for marine and offshore use. The company is a thoroughbred supplier of marine compressors, based on 40 years’ heritage in the marine and offshore industries. The company is headquartered in Oslo, with sales and service offices all over the world.
