Last week, hook up of the Alisa Floating Storage and Offloading unit (FSO) was successfully completed. This marks the final step of the FSO transportation and installation for the Culzean field, under the project management of Maersk Supply Service.

Maersk Supply Service completes FSO tow and installation for Culzean field

The project has been delivered to Total E&P UK as an integrated solution, including project management, engineering, procurement and execution of offshore work scopes. Eight Maersk Supply Service vessels and crew carried out the marine operations.

Advanced capabilities of two of Maersk Supply Service’s new-build M-class anchor handling tug supply vessels were utilised throughout the project. With its large deck, chain lockers and winches, the tensioning of twelve 50-tonne anchors was performed from Maersk Master in just two vessel mobilisations, achieving the highest tensioned mooring system in the North Sea at 723 tonnes. Installation of twelve 140mm mooring chains and sheathed wires from Maersk Minder was also completed in two mobilisations.

“This is a significant milestone for Maersk Supply Services in delivering full-scope solutions to our customers. Leveraging the expertise, commitment and flexibility of all stakeholders involved as one on- and offshore team was key to the safe, efficient and timely completion of this challenging project,” says Head of Integrated Solutions Olivier Trouvé.

Maersk Supply Service continues to work for Total E&P UK in the North Sea, providing the decommissioning of the Janice, James and Leadon fields as an integrated solution.
