The yacht Larissa caught fire in the afternoon of July 18. The accident happened two miles off the coast of Tortoreto, Italy, while the vessel was en route from Ancona to Pescara.

There were 16 people on board, among them two minors. Luckily, they all were rescued before the whole yacht was engulfed by flames from the stern.

The firefighting teams were unable to contain the fire and two hours and a half later Larissa sank on a water depth of about seven meters. It is believed that the fire started in the engine room of the vessel.

Yesterday, an attempt to salvage the wreck turned out to be unsuccessful as it broke in two during the lifting. Next attempt has been planned to take place tomorrow.
