German container line Hapag-Lloyd reported that the 2010-built container ship MV Mataquito suffered a main engine failure off Mexico on Tuesday, October 13.

The 6,589 TEUs Mataquito is presently berthed at the Port of Manzanillo.

Hapag-Lloyd says that a repair plan is already in place, and the Liberia-flagged vessel is expected to be ready to resume its voyage by Saturday, October 17.

All reefer cargo was discharged for transshipment onto the first available vessel to Asia on October 14.

The dry cargo will remain on board to continue its voyage once vessel has completed repairs.
