A Swedish Coast Guard Air Patrol flew over the area and estimated that at least 350 liters of diesel oil leaked into the sea.

The KBV 409 started work to contain the spill by laying out booms. Also the KBV 181 was dispatched in order to drain the remaining diesel from the vessel. The situation was said to be critical but under control. A surveillance aircraft of the Coast Guard was monitoring the incident site. Police have launched a preliminary investigation regarding violations of the Maritime Act.

On November 7 the Coast Guard pumped 700 liters oil and a small amount of hydraulic oil from the ship. After no oil spill was observed on November 8, the KBV 181 returned to its home port in Umea.
