Dutch shipbuilder Ferus Smit launched Nordana Sea, the third vessel in a series of six being built for its compatriot shipping company Symphony Shipping BV, on December 11, in Leer, Germany.
The 10,500 dwt cargo vessel will be chartered out to the Danish shipping company Nordana, and sail in its fleet after delivery.
Nordana Sea features an Ecobox design, and is characterized by its flexibility of loading combined with very economical and ecological performance, large loading floor area for project cargoes, including complete movable tweendeck, two 85 ton cargo cranes and a deckhouse placed on foreship for better protection of deck cargo and enabling to load oversized items over the stern.
The vessel also has the ability of sailing in all weather conditions without main deck hatches to transport large project cargoes without height restrictions, and the Ferus Smit ECO bulbless Canoe type bow, designed to reduce fuel costs and better sustained speed.
Additionally Nordana Sea has a propeller equipped with a duct for enhanced thrust at lower speeds and reduction of maximum installed propulsion power.
