A display of the versatility of Vroon’s offshore-support fleet took place last weekend, when VOS Prime, one of the company’s modern DP2 platform-supply vessels (PSV), undertook a supply run to wind-turbine-installation vessel, MPI Discovery. The operation took place in the Rampion Offshore Windfarm, situated off Brighton on the UK south coast, where MPI Discovery is at work until later this month.

Since mid-2016 VOS Prime, a 2015-built PSV with SPS (special-purpose ships) notation for 52 POB (persons on board), has been regularly delivering consumables and technical components to offshore windfarm substations on so-called “milk rounds”, mainly operating in German waters.
From her current base port of Emden, VOS Prime proceeded to MPI Discovery. After thorough preparatory checks, carried out in close cooperation by the masters and crews of both vessels and including a joint Risk Assessment, VOS Prime commenced her supply operations, making full use of the favourable weather conditions at the time.
After the six-hour ship-to-ship transfer was safely concluded, VOS Prime headed directly to the German sector for a second supply job to one of Vroon’s German clients.
