Swiss-based offshore contractor Allseas has hired one of Solstad Offshore’s subsea construction and support vessels (CSV).
Solstad said on Friday that Allseas chartered its 2009-built CSV Normand Poseidon, formerly known as the REM Poseidon.
The former REM Offshore vessel became part of Solstad Offshore’s fleet after REM merged with Solstad’s Solship Invest.
The Normand Poseidon CSV is 93.6 meters long and 19.7 meters wide with a deadweight of 4,500 tonnes and a 1,046 square meter deck. It was built by by Kleven Verft and can accommodate 68 persons.
The last charter for the vessel was with Adams Offshore which was agreed in 2014 for a period of three years. This charter agreement was supposed to last until November 2017, with further two six months options, but was cut short due to Adams non-fulfilling its obligations.
According to the company, the contract with Allseas will begin on March 1, 2017, and have a duration of three years firm, which may extend to five due to two one-year extension options. The financial aspect and other details regarding the contract were not disclosed.
In related news, Farstad Shipping, Solstad Offshore, and Deep Sea Supply agreed earlier this month to form a new offshore supply vessel company in Norway with a fleet of 154 vessels.
