On March 1st, 2015, the Queenscliff collided with a sailboat which had lost all control due to stormy weather conditions along with rapid waves off the coast of Sydney.

While the Queenscliff managed to alter her course to port in order to avoid hitting the above-mentioned vessel, it was not able to change directions dramatically due to the Sow and Pigs reef which was at portside, thus resulting in the collision with the smaller vessel which made contact with the back of the ferry. At the time it looked as if the yacht was about to capsize.

All crew members of the Qeenscliff were then mobilised in order to provide assistance. Subsequently emergency teams were appointed to the location after receiving a distress signal. Fortunately, the yacht managed to remain upright and all of its crew remained safe.
