On Mar 2, 2016, at 6 a.m. local time the chemical oil tanker Lizrix with a crew of eight on board alerted the CROSS Gris Nez after having suffered a damage of its propulsion system in the traffic separation scheme of the Pas de Calais.

The unloaded ship was adrift about nine nautical miles from Calais. It had been enroute from St. Helier to Immingham.
As the crew was unable to repair the damage, the ship dropped anchor.
Immediately, the Maritime Prefect of the Channel and the North Sea decided to send the emergency tug Abeille Languedoc from Boulogne-sur-Mer. As the weather conditions were deteriorating in the area, the maritime prefect notified the owner that there was a risk for the vessel and its crew at sea. In order to avoid the danger, the Lizrix was towed by the emergency tug Abeille Languedoc to Dover. The convoy reached the port on Mar 3 at 4.30 p.m. LT.
