China’s Xiamen Shipbuilding Industry (XSI) has signed an agreement for the building of a wind turbine installation vessel with the local investment company Xiamen Fuchuan Investment.

This is the first wind turbine installation vessel order received by the Chinese shipbuilder. The contract includes a clause for the construction of an additional vessel. The new vessel will be classified by the Chinese Classification Society.
Specific contract details regarding the newbuilding cost or the delivery period were not revealed.
Xiamen Shipbuilding Industry is specializing in the construction of car carriers, container and bulk carriers. Since 2009, XSI has also been developing offshore vessels including platform supply vessels and accommodation vessels.
