On Monday (August 17), a small passenger ship hit a pier while maneuvering to stop at a dock in port of Krimpen (Krimpen aan den IJssel) in South Holland.

After the collision of the 31-meter long Dutch fast ferry VLIJ with the floating pier, all windows from the ship’s starboard side were shattered.

There were 20 passengers on board when the incident occurred. The broken glasses slightly injured 4 of them, who were treated by the medical personnel dispatched to the site. One person was transferred to a local hospital for additional medical assistance.

According to the local port authorities, the pier sustained slight damage as well. The Unit of Rotterdam’s Seaport Police has launched an investigation into the incident.
