Modules for Equinor’s Peregrino Phase II drilling facility have begun a journey to Texas where it will be stacked and tested before being shipped to Brazil.
On Tuesday, July 31, Equinor released a video showing the sailaway of eight drilling modules from Grimstad, Norway, aboard Biglift’s Happy Sky transport vessel.
The first stop for the modules on the way to the Peregrino field will be in Ingleside, Texas.
According to VesselsValue’s live map, the Happy Sky is currently in the North Atlantic Ocean offshore Lajes das Flores in the Portuguese archipelago of the Azores.
It is carrying the modules built by Nymo and with the Cameron-provided drilling equipment.
First oil in 2020
The Peregrino platform itself – and the drilling facility – will be installed offshore Brazil in late 2019. If all goes according to plan, the platform will start producing in late 2020 and keep producing for 20 years.
The Equinor-operated Peregrino is a heavy oil field, situated in the South and South West section of the Campos Basin, approximately 85 kilometers of the coast of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Peregrino is presently developed with two wellhead platforms and a floating production, storage and offloading unit (FPSO). A system of pipelines, risers, and cables connects this FPSO and the two wellhead platforms.
The Peregrino Phase II field development will add a third wellhead platform, as this area is not accessible by the existing two platforms. It contains an eight-legged jacket and a wellhead platform with a drilling unit (WHP-C) tied-back to the existing FPSO.
Phase II will enhance production from the Peregrino field by increasing the number of production wells with a total of 21 – 15 oil producers and 6 water injectors.
