Hamburg-based Nauticor, a unit of Linde, said that Kairos, the world’s largest liquefied natural gas bunkering vessel hit a milestone over the past weekend.
The vessel conducted its 50th LNG-bunkering operation, Nauticor said in a brief statement through its social media channels.
The operation took place in the port of Visby and the receiving vessel was Destination Gotland’s ferry Visborg.
The milestone came less than five months after Kairos conducted the first ship-to-ship LNG bunker operation in March 2019.
Kairos, with a tank capacity of 7,500 cubic meters is owned by Babcock Schulte Energy. Klaipedos Nafta and Nauticor chartered the vessel through the joint venture Blue LNG, where Nauticor had a 90 percent share, and Klaipedos Nafta had a 10 percent share.
Klaipedos Nafta sold its 10 percent stake in the joint venture in late April 2019, making Nauticor the sole charterer of Kairos. The transfer will become effective as of September 30, 2019.
