The hit resulted in the vessel sustaining hull damage in the bow, cargo hold and in the engine room, which led to water ingress with the engine room being flooded subsequently. Every one of the 9-man crew was rescued successfully and is now safe.

According to reports, the cargo vessel still had approximately 6,000 litres of diesel fuel on board at the time of the accident.
