German Captain and his Assistant arrested in Chennai Port for hit-and-run case

Two Germans, a ship captain and 2nd-in-command of the cargo ship MV Grietje that allegedly ran over a fishing vessel and caused the death of a fisherman on the 16th of March, 2013 were arrested in Chennai Port on Tuesday.
Fishing Harbour Police registered a case under Section 304(a) on Indian Penal Code after T Anandan (40-year-old), a fisherman from Thiruvottiyur, went missing after a large unknown cargo ship ran over his fibre vessel.
Anandan and 2 others fishermen were fishing around 4:30 a.m. on 16th of March, 2013 when the incident occurred. He was found dead later. Police reported that ship captain Wolfgang Alberecht (46-year-old) and the 2nd-in-command Hinkfoth Steffen (38-year-old) were brought before a court in George Town. Subsequently, the court granted bail to the duo.
