World’s Largest Tunnel Boring Machine Transported to Seattle (USA)

The enormous boring machine (TBM) has to be discharged by MV Fairpartner in Friday 5th of April in Seattle. The giant machine is designed and built by Hitachi Zosen Corporation and loaded at Osaka, Japan.
The boring machine consists of 48 pieces weighing 7.777 metric tons and with measure 31.606.
"Bertha" is the name of the machine named after Bertha Knight Landes, Seattle’s first female mayor.
17 meters diameter and length 100 meters is enough for digging the SR99 tunnel beneath downtown Seattle and has to be finished in 2015.
