With effect from 1st September, 2017 Samskip expanded its services in Scotland by increasing capacity into Grangemouth.
Adding capacity into Grangemouth represents another step forward in our continuing strategy to intensify Samskip's presence in Scotland, enhance efficiency and increase value to our customers. It follows the deployment of our larger 803-TEU container vessel into the UK shortsea services back in August as a result of increased customer demand for our reliable service.
Local representation
"Together with a planned new office relocation October 31st, these steps demonstrate our ongoing commitment to serve the Scottish business community's needs, and will position the company for future growth."
Direct link
The shortsea service directly connects the Grangemouth area to Samskip's European multimodal network as well as to major deepsea terminals for shipments worldwide. In addition, the new service will provide a direct intra UK shortsea connection from Hull to Grangemouth offering a cost-effective, sustainable solution for domestic transports.
The service is open to all types of intermodal loading units such as 45ft containers, reefers, flatracks for out of gauge cargo, tank containers and bulk containers.
Reliable, fast transit option
With a fixed weekly Friday sailing ex Rotterdam to the port of Grangemouth, cargo can be delivered on Mondays. For clients who require a 3-day transit on another day, a direct rail connection is available from Teesport; servicing the Grangemouth area and wider Scotland.
