Japan to build high-performance 1,000-TEU feeders for Korean service

MITSUBISHI Heavy Industries (MHI) and Hakata Shipbuilding of Imabari, Ehime Prefecture, have decided to work together on the creation of a high performance 1,000-TEU feeders.
The idea of the Japanese companies is to build high-performance 1,000-TEU feeders for Korean service.
2 vessels are the 1st order and they have to be deployed on time (October 2014) charters by Korea Marine Transport Co (KMTC).
The new vessels have to be fuel-efficient, high-performance, high-quality and low-cost. If everything goes well more ships will be built for international feeder market.
