China to spend $1.2bn on Jamaican port project

China Harbour Engineering Company Limited (CHEC) has plan to spend between $1.2bn and $1.5bn in the project of a shipment port in Jamaica.
The Port Authority of Jamaica and the Chinese company signed a deal for cooperation. (CHEC) suggested to help with expansion of the port.
Jamaica’s prime minister Portia Simpson Miller informed: "It will consist of transshipment facilities, a logistics centre, industrial plants, a cement plant and perhaps a power plant."
The project is planned for 5 years, it will need 2,000 people hired. This project is expected to give work to 10, 000 people.
