MAERSK's container ship Mathilde Maersk suffered fire onboard

A container vessel of Danish container carrier Maersk, Mathilde Maersk  experienced fire in engine room on 6th of June, 2013 while passing through Suez Canal.

Fire in the engine room started at 8:25 and was extinguished by the crew at 8:34. There are no injuries, according to the information of Maersk press-center. The container ship nevertheless, was disabled by the fire.

A tug vessel came to help, and took Mathilde Maersk to anchorage in Great Bitter Lake , where the container ship Mathilde Maersk was anchored for repairs. As of 1:00 UTC on 8th of June, 2013 the ship was in the same position. Mathilde Maersk was en route from Tanjung Pelepas, Malaysia, to Algeciras, Spain. Cause of the fire unknown. Vessel is engaged on AE6/TP6 Service.
