Cargo ship sinks after being stuck by a Greek bulk carrier

Chinese general cargo ship Harmony Rise collided with a Greek bulk carrier Panamax Blessing at approximately 04:00 LT on 10th of July, 2013, in the vicinity of South Korea some 6,5 n.m. off Korean coast, Japan sea.

The Greek bulk carrier Panamax Blessing was proceeding north, while the Chinese cargo ship Harmony Rise south. Both ships collided on opposite courses obviously due to watch officers mistakes, while trying to avoid the accident.

The bulk carrier Panamax Blessing struck the cargo ship Harmony Rise starboard and shortly after the collision the Chinese freighter Harmony Rise sank.

According to the information by Panamax Blessing twelve Chinese crew members went into life rafts and were rescued. Bulk carrier suffered bow damages. The general cargo ship Harmony Rise was sailing from Tanchon, North Korea. Bulk carrier Panamax Blessing was en route from Argentina to Ulsan, Korea .
