Panama stopped North Korean vessel smuggling weapons

Panama Authorities have detected a North Korean-flagged vessel, coming from Cuba when approaching the Panama Canal, that was sailing with undeclared weapons.

The undeclared cargo was hidden in containers of brown sugar, the ship was suspected carrying drugs. The vessel was directed to the port of Manzanillo on the Atlantic side of the canal.

Martinelli informed:
"We're going to keep unloading the ship and figure out exactly what was inside,"
"You cannot go around shipping undeclared weapons of war through the Panama Canal."

The captain of the ship attempted a suicide, 35 people were detained. It is known that the vessel was sailing to North Korea.
