Update on Sunken MV Albedo: Photos

By Piracy
On Saturday, July 27th, a helicopter from an EUNAVFOR war vessel overflew the hijacked fishing ship Naham 3 and confirmed that the fishing ship had become detached from the sunken MV Albedo and was steaming north along the Somali coast under her own power.

The fishing vessel Naham 3 has been in armed pirate hands since it was pirated in the Indian Ocean on 26th of March, 2012. She had been tethered to the sunken vessel MV Albedo that was hijacked in November 2010, for a few months. MV Albedo sank in shallow waters on Sunday, 7th of July.

Recent aerial photos have shown pirates wielding their weapons on the upper deck of the fishing vessel Naham 3.

EU Naval Force stated that negotiations are on-going among a hostage support programme and the Somali pirates to try and secure the safe release of the kidnapped crew members of MV Albedo.
