Qingdao Beihai Shipbuilding Heavy Industry Co., Ltd has contracted TMC Compressors of the Seas (TMC) to provide the marine compressed air system to the Liuhua FPSO.
The Chinese yard is responsible for constructing and equipping the hull of the Liuhua FPSO, which will be owned and operated by CNOOC (China National Offshore Oil Corporation).
Under the contract, TMC will provide a highly energy efficient compressed air system consisting of 2 x 235 kW instrument air compressors, a large adsorption air dryer with filters. The equipment will be delivered to Qingdao Beihai’s yard in China. TMC’s contract value is undisclosed.
“Although the arrows in the offshore industry is currently pointing in the right direction, cost consciousness remains top of EPC contractors’ and operators’ agenda. We are very pleased with this as our compressors are the most energy efficient around, cutting both operational expenditure and harmful emissions to air,” says Hans Petter Tanum, TMC’s director of sales and business development.
The FPSO will be deployed to the Liahua 16-2 field in the South China Sea’s Pearl River Mouth basin.
“With a design life of 30 years, the Liuhua FPSO requires reliable, high-quality equipment. We are therefore proud to be chosen as supplier to this project,” adds Tanum.
TMC Compressors of the Seas is the world’s leading supplier of compressed air systems for marine and offshore use. The company is headquartered in Oslo, with sales and service offices all over the world.
