Hijacked Oman-flagged vessel spotted near Somalian beach

By Piracy

The fishing vessel FV Naham 3 that was in pirate hands since March 26 last year has been spotted near a Somali beach. The ship was sailing for a month up and down the coast.

EU Navfor informed that a Spanish Maritime Patrol Aircraft (MPA) participating in the anti-piracy mission in the area spotted the FV Naham 3 and was sailing less than a 100m from the shore.

It was also reported  that armed pirates were sighted on board the fishing vessel and the hostages were seen in or near the ship. There are negotiations for releasing the hostages. FV Naham 3 was taken by pirates in the Indian Ocean in 2012 and was tethered to MV Albedo hijacked in November 2010. MV Albedo sank on July 7.
