Wärtsilä to deliver propulsion for 6 offshore Brazil PLVs

Wärtsilä will deliver the propulsion solutions for 6 new offshore pipe laying vessels being built by IHC Merwede. Subsea7 will also participate in the order and will build 3 of the vessels. 3 more vessels have been ordered by Seabras Sapura, the Sapura Kencana and Seadrill partnership entity.

All the vessels are planned to be ready for the 1st of 2015 and the 2nd half of 2016. The machines will be used to serve  the Brazilian offshore market by Petrobras, the multi-national energy corporation.

The deal comprises 32 Wärtsilä engines, 2 transverse thrusters, 2 retractable thrusters, and 3 steerable underwater de-mountable thrusters. Wärtsilä will start delivering its products and services in the beginning of the next year.

Subsea7 and Sapura Kencana are already using equipment from Wärtsilä. Subsea7 and Wärtsilä have more worldwide agreement for services and spare parts.
