New fast catamaran type under construction

By Vessels

Incat Crowther has revealed information for the design of a new type fast catamaran long 70 meters. The vessel will be constructed to comply with the IMO's HSC code. The catamaran is planned to be equipped with dynamic positioning, more stable access platform and software for crew transfer.

The project started at Incat Tasmania and the first product will be ready in 1 year. The catamaran is planned to work as a crew transfer vessel(high speed) serving 150 offshore workers in the process of multiple offshore installation works.
The hull is planned for fast sailing with extras like making the sea sickness disappearing. This of course is benefit for the transportation of offshore workers. There are also more extras like minimal noise onboard, vibration, indoor climate. All features are according with DNV comfort class regulation.

The fast catamaran is resistant to rough weather conditions such as 40 knot wind and waves up to 3 meters.

Building such type of fast vessel is cost effective compared to the transportation of offshore workers with a helicopter. The journey has to be pleasant for the people on board because they will have to be in good shape before going to work.

Why this vessel is the first of its kind?
This is the first type of catamaran that will use the innovation of the more stable access of the platform construction and supporting systems implemented into the project.
Transportation of people in rough weather conditions is planned as well. There is special hydraulic that supports the system and offshore workers can be lifted  with unique transfer system.

The main idea in constructing such vessel is the transportation of people. The project includes 100 square meters of cargo deck. Cargo capacity allow impressive amount of cargo combined with high speed.
