Silver Galapagos joined the fleet of the Silversea company, an expedition deluxe cruises supplier. The ship Silver Galapagos, earlier bearing the name Galapagos Explorer II set sail on her maiden voyage on the 28th of September. The name is not the only thing that had been changed. Silver Galapagos with the capacity of 100 guests on board was totally renewed. 

Before the voyage began the ship was christened by Constanza Lefebvre d’Ovidio, daughter of Manfredi Lefebvre d’Ovidio, chairman of Silversea. The ship was first blesses by a catholic priest, then the godmother cut the symbolic strip adding Silver Galapagos in the company's fleet and her father gave a speech. Another representatives of Silversea also attended the ceremony, such as the vice president of Silversea, Ecuador - Santiago Dunn and the director of expedition cruises Conrad Combrink.  

Silver Galapagos cruise ship was totally refurbished (more info). All cabins of Silver Galapagos are suites and they now have an entirely new interior. TV sets are replaced with flat screens. Beds are with new mattresses produced especially for Silversea and new Pratesi deluxe linens. Bathrooms are richly decorated with marble and rainforest showers and every bathroom is made unique with different wooden floor, different shelving, mirrors and lighting fixtures. All suites and public spaces were refurbished with new carpets, upholstery and curtains.   

The ship is also upgraded with Wi-Fi access and live TV news broadcasting and movies to choose. Guests can take advantage of all this via their mobile devices.
Silver Galapagos has also a new massage room, gym, beauty salon, Jacuzzi to be enjoyed outdoors and Silversea's mark in dining the outdoor restaurant, The Grill.   
Lefebvre d’Ovidio said in his speech;

“It is our aim that this ship will not only offer our guests the highest level of comfort and service, but also enlighten them to the rarity and beauty of the Galápagos Islands”.

Silver Galapagos makes week lasting round trips starting from Saturday, embarking from Baltra Island and heading on a north or western course. Silversea's deluxe expedition cruises give their customers the opportunity to experience the wild marvelous world of Galapagos, that is considered to be an outdoor laboratory where people can examine evolution.
