MSC Magnifica Runs Aground in Piraeus port

A cruise ship of MSC grounded at southeast port of Piraeus in Greece, today, reported maritime officials of the Greek Coast Guard.

According to initial information on the accident, there are no injured passengers nor crew members of the grounded MSC Magnifica cruise ship, reported maritime authorities. A main reason for grounding of the large cruise liner was the bad weather condition at the Piraeus port.

Maritime professionals are conducting an investigation on the grounding of the cruise ship, while most of the ports around Greece are swept by storms today.

The bridge cam of the grounded MSC Magnifica shows the vessel docked in the port of Piraeus with pretty calm weather condition. Additionally, in the port are currently berthed Constellation, Ruby Princess and Rotterdam cruise ships.

At the time of the accident, the MSC Magnifica cruise ship was reported to have carried 2,469 passengers and 976 crew members aboard.
