3 Oak ship grounding closed temporarily the Kiel Canal

Kiel Canal was temporarily closed for sailing after the ship 3 Oak ran aground in the southern embankment 2 days ago, around 5 p.m. The ship was en route from Szczecin to Rotterdam.

The reason for the incident is believed to be an engine failure. The ship 3 Oak was refloated successfully and was able to continue to the planned destination 6 hours later.
