Seabourn Cruise Line has decided to order a new ultra-luxury ship from the Italian shipyard Fincantieri. This new signed contract is for a new, all-suite 40,350-ton vessel, which is expected to be delivered in 2016. The company plans modernization of its fleet, plans that had started in 2009 with Seabourn Odyssey. After that a new entered the Seabourn's fleet - Seabourn Sojourn in 2010 and in 2011 Seabourn Quest.

The design of the new vessel will be nothing new, but will stick with Seabourn's high ratio of space per guest and the company will promote highly personalized service. More space means one private veranda for every suite. The cruise company is adding this luxury cruise ship because customers like this product. More and more luxury cruise ships are resulting in growth in the market. Customers now have more options. Seabourn is trying to offer the customers a unique experience combined with modern fleet and innovations.

Rick Meadows, Seabourn's president said:

"The new ship will continue the evolution that began with Seabourn's fleet expansion, adding modern design elements and innovations consistent with Seabourn's reputation for understated elegance,"
"With its delivery, the most highly rated cruise line in the world will also offer travelers the newest fleet of ships in the luxury segment."

The new cruise ship has to replace capacity that will be reduced when the company's cruise ships: Seabourn Pride, Seabourn Spirit and Seabourn Legend are transferred to new owner Windstar Cruises. Fincantieri and Seabourn have a long business connection, 20 years. The parent company Carnival Corporation & plc works for a long time with the Italian shipbuilder. Fincantieri receives more and more orders for building ships for all the operators in the ultra-luxury segment. The market is growing for the past year.

New ships always are needed in order cruise companies to be competitive and to attract more customers.
