ZHUHAI – Firemen have put out a blaze and 3 people have been saved after an explosion on a petrol tanker docked at a South China port on Monday, according to local naval authorities.
Only 1 man has been slightly injured when the fire has eventually extinguished at about 4:15 pm on the tanker at Xiangzhou bay of Zhuhai city, told Wu Yun, a spokesman for the city’s maritime and fishing authorities.
He told investigators were still probing the reason of the blast, which also caused a spill, although most of the floating fuel have been consumed by the fire.
The fire has been so fierce that thick black smoke could be seen from afar. At one point, Zhuhai's authorities ordered some of the hundreds of ships docked at Xiangzhou bay to evacuate.
