Bulk carriers Atlantic Tramp and Bulk Costa Rica collided around 50 km off Ijmuiden in North Sea. According the Royal Netherlands Sea Rescue Institution, the incident happened on 20th April around UTC 3 am. Atlantic Tramp was sailing from Dunkerque to St. Petersburg while Bulk Costa Rica was en route from Ijmuiden to Iskenderum (Turkey). The visibility was good, no crew member was injured, but both vessels suffered serious damages. The cause of the incident is under investigation.
Currently, the vessels are anchored close to the site of the collision. The Atlantic Tramp has a huge crack (about 10 m) in the portside bow section, above the waterline, the damage on board Bulk Costa Rica is on the cargo deck.
