14 Somali pirates seized in Gulf of Aden

Costal Guard of Yemen captured yesterday 14 Somali pirates off the country's island of Socotra in the Gulf of Aden, information from the Ministry of Defence.
"The Yemeni Coastal Guard forces captured 14 Somali pirates off Socotra Island early on Sunday and have transferred them to security authorities for investigation," the ministry told in a statement on its website.
On April 19, the Yemeni interior ministry informed that a Spanish warship aid for releasing 9 Yemeni sailors (fishermen) who were captured by Somali pirates in the Arabian Sea.
In November, 2011, a Yemeni criminal court gave a sentence of 10 years to ten pirates of Somalia after telling that they were involved in piracy in Yemen's territorial waters.
The Arabian Sea and the Gulf of Aden, region with pirate activity- in particular waters between Yemen and Somalia, is the main destination for about 25,000 ships every year.
