The NTSB (National Transportation Safety Board) has taken over an investigation of a yacht capsizing. The incident happened during the launch of the 90-foot brand new motoryacht on 18 May in Anacortes (Washington).
The initial investigation into the capsizing has been completed by the US Coast Guard (USCG). It has been handed over to the NTBS, because it is considered a major marine causality (a causality with damage estimated to exceed $500,000). It is expected that the investigation will take a few months.
The motoryacht was constructed by New World Yacht Builders. She was listed for sale on the brokerage market. Her price, before the unsuccessful launch, was $9.2 million.
