A new video has been posted by Shell. It reveals the last in the building process of the First Floating Liquified Natural Gas Project in the world, Prelude FLNG. Currently, the largest floating structure ever built is being constructed in Geoje (South Korea) at the yard of Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI).
The video shows the design and making of the living area, which resembles a five star hotel. The accommodation area of the huge vessel is being designed for 120-member crew by naval architects.
Prelude FLNG will be deployed in a remote basin some 475 km northeast of Broome (Western Australia). The largest floating structure will remain there for around 25 years in any weather conditions. Engineers explain the structure have been designed to withstand a 5-cyclone category.
Prelude FLNG is expected to take the energy industry to a new innovation level and to revolutionise the maritime sector. The structure is due to enter service in 2017.
