A time-lapse video shows the construction works during the building of the largest container vessel in the world, Maersk Mc-Kinney Moller.
The construction contract for the lead ship of the Triple-E series was signed with Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) of South Korea on Feb 21, 2011. The steel cutting ceremony was on June 18, 2012. Forty-thousands workers were engaged in DSME shipyard during the building of the world biggest container ship. Maersk Mc-Kinney Moller cost $190 million and started its active service on July 2, 2013.
The vessel has sufficient accommodation for 34 people, but during normal operations it is manned by 19-man crew.
Maersk Mc-Kinney Moller (IMO number 9619907 and MMSI 219018271) is registered in Denmark. It is 399 meters long, 73 m high, 59 m wide and has a capacity of 18,000 TEU .
