Brand new live fish carrier capsizes in Turkish shipyard

Lilly Johanne, a live fish carrier, has capsized off a shipyard quay in Çeliktrans (Tuzla, Istanbul). The vessel, launched in January this year, was undergoing completion when it capsized onto its port side on August 7.

There were no reports of injuries. Lilly Johanne has been surrounded by booms to prevent pollution. According to the owner of the vessel, Aqua Star (Austevoll, Norway), the fish carrier has suffered significant damage.

An investigation has been launched to determine the cause of the incident.

Lilly Johanne (IMO number 9680918 and MMSI 257503000) is registered in Norway. The vessel is 50 meters long, 13 meters wide and has a gross tonnage of 1,044 GT.
